ServiceMonitor is a stay-out-of-your-way menu bar application that comes with a handful of useful shortcuts. The app allows you to start and stop your Apache or MySQL server from the status bar menu and more. Although ServiceMonitor allows you to change the commands, it comes with a set of default commands for Apache, MySQL and Memcache. The last can be used if you have installed it via macports. To use ServiceMonitor you must place it in the Applications folder: after the first launch you can configure it by editing the net.martinj.servicemonitor.plist file that has been created in the Library/Preferences folder. Note that you must restart the app for the changes to take effect.
