Squash is an unsophisticated image compression and optimization tool designed to address this issue: just drag and drop the images you want to optimize, and the app takes care of the rest. Even though Squash does not come with any kind of documentation, during our test we have noticed that the application can reduce only the size of JPG and PNG image files. You can import other types of files, but Squash will not be able to decrease the file size at all.
