Booze is a game engine that can play a number of Chess like games. It is totally free and works on all major operating systems. The current version plays Shogi, Mini-Shogi and Tori Shogi. Future versions will contain XiangQi, Chess, and a few other similar games. Shogi is often referred to as Japanese Chess. It is played on a 9 by 9 board and is famous for it's "drop" rule that allows you to place captured pieces back on the game board. Tori Shogi (roughly translated: Bird Chess) is a variation of Shogi played on a 7 by 7 board. The pieces are all named after birds and have some fairly odd movement patterns.
