Blackboard Video is a free and open-source utility that allows you to create online tutorials in the style of Khan Academy (www.khanacademy.org). Blackboard Video was at first just a simplified paint program that allows the user to select colors and draw on a black canvas that can be scrolled indefinitely. Lessons can be saved afterwards in png format. Basic video and sound recording functionality were later added to make it a self-contained solution for creating educational and instructional videos. (Currently one must use Camtasia studio / etc for accomplishing this).
