Tox is a communication platform that is using UDP hole punching to provide a secure and private environment for sending and receiving messages over the internet. The user’s IP address is transformed into a byte string and one can use the Tox IDs to quickly establish a secure connection with other operators. Poison is a simple Mac app that provides an intuitive graphical user interface for accessing the Tox capabilities in a streamlined manner: you can send and receive messages, transfer files, and so on. To get started, you must provide a nickname for your Tox ID, and then specify how do you want Tox to handle your decryption key: you can store it in your Keychain, you can choose to use a specific password to unlock the app, or you can decide not to save the information (all the data is deleted when you quit the Poison app).
