It's easy to add Login Items to Mac OS X. These programs are started after a user logs in. But what if you wanted to run a shell script at startup and NOT login? This can be accomplished using launchd. However, it isn't very intuitive to do. It requires creating a directory with special permissions and creating a .plist and .sh file with proper permissons in the proper locations. Go4Launch wll do all of this for you. With one click, it will automatically make a directory (/Library/BootScripts), creates a .plist file in /Library/LaunchDaemons, and creates a "template" Shell Script (.sh).
