Scid (Shane's Chess Information Database) is an open source and free chess database application for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux operating systems. With Scid you can maintain a database of chess games, view graphical trends, search games by many criteria, and produce printable reports on players and openings. With Scid you can also play against various engines, or on Internet (FICS). Scid converts to and from PGN (Portable Game Notation) format, which is the standard for text-based chess information exchange, but uses its own fast compact format for storing files.
